The Self Help strategy connotes a programme of activities involving concerted efforts of members of a given community aimed at providing some basic amenities in that community. It entails the development of the resources of the community by efforts of members of that community alone, instead of relying on outside initiatives or assistance. It is an inward-looking approach to self or group improvement, which relies solely on own efforts and largely for own benefit. The objectives of this study were to; identify the various Self-Help projects in the study area; determine the level of satisfaction of the beneficiaries to the Self-Help projects executed in the study area, identify the problems militating against effective performance of the Self-Help programme in the study area. The methods of data collection were primary and secondary sources of data. Three rural communities were purposively selected as sample frame. 300 respondents were purposively selected as sample size. Tabulation and percentages were used to analyze the data. The result was that 21.3% of the sampled respondents were highly satisfactory, 56.7% were moderately satisfactory and 21.7% were not satisfied with the performance of Self-Help rural development initiatives in the study area.
