Artery of percheron infarction after endoscopic pituitary surgery: case report and review of the literature

The thalamic vascularization and midbrain consist of a complex arterial network involving the anterior and posterior cerebral circulation, Percheron artery represent an anatomic variation branch of the paramedian artery (P1) and was described in 1973, by Gerard Percheron who performed an extensive study of thalamus vascular anatomy based on cadaveric observation and dissection.

Infarction in Percheron territory is a rare phenomenon, in this opportunity, we present the second report of Artery of Percheron infarction after endoscopic pituitary surgery in a male patient of 52 years old with a pituitary macroadenoma with a review of the anatomy and most frequent complications for trans-sphenoidal approach.
